Doors

Placing doors

Press R for a dock door, Shift+R for an egress door (or click the Door toolbar button and pick from the menu), then move along a building wall. A live ghost preview follows your cursor -- green when the spot works, red when it doesn't (too close to another door, or not enough wall). Click to place. Doors only go on building walls, and while the tool is active the wall's door-spacing dimensions show so you can see the layout you're building.

Dock doors default to 108 inches wide, egress doors to 36; both are adjustable after placement. Minimum spacing is enforced -- dock doors keep truck-access distance from each other, egress doors just need clear separation.

Dock doors and staging areas

The first dock door on a wall automatically creates a STAGING AREA -- a preset zone extending into the building where pallets will be staged. Every additional dock door on that wall shares the same staging area, and the zone re-shapes itself as doors are added, moved, or removed. Staging areas block rack from generating inside them.

Click the staging area to manage the wall's whole door array:

  • Add Doors -- place N more doors in one go, extending the row from the last door at the wall's default spacing.
  • Front / Back Padding -- in feet: sets the space between the wall (and doors) and the first row of floor storage, and the space at the staging area's far edge to where you want to allow racking.
  • Floor storage toggle -- fill the staging area with floor-stacked pallet positions between those paddings, counted like any other floor storage.
  • Show dimensions / show padding overlays, and an obstruction toggle.

Egress doors and clearance zones

Egress doors render with their swing arc (always swinging outward) and create a small clearance companion zone inside the building -- the area that has to stay clear for the exit path. Selecting an egress door lets you toggle that zone's dimensions and whether it blocks storage. Like staging areas, clearance zones are shaped by their door -- move the door and the zone follows.

Editing doors

Doors are normal selectable objects on the plan: click one with the Select tool and its menu opens -- name, width, Clone, Delete. Drag a door to slide it along its wall; arrow keys nudge it (12 inches, Shift for 120, Ctrl for 1); Ctrl+C duplicates it next to itself at legal spacing; Delete removes it. Removing the last dock door on a wall removes the wall's staging area with it.
